Choruss

Split event surplus & host checklist

Close the books after the celebration: see surplus or shortfall, show each participant their balance, and finish without awkward follow-ups.

What “surplus” means here

Surplus is what remains after total expenses are compared with total contributions collected for the event. Choruss shows that math as a ledger. Actual cash return or settlement is handled by the organizer or group — Choruss does not hold or withdraw funds.

Host checklist before you close

  1. Confirm every intended contribution is marked paid or intentionally waived.
  2. Add final expenses (including small cash spends people forget).
  3. Review total collected vs total spent and the surplus or shortfall.
  4. Share the final view with participants so everyone sees the same numbers.
  5. Settle any real-world refunds or leftover money as your group agrees.

Facts to remember

  • Balances in Choruss are ledger references based on entered payments and expenses.
  • Choruss is not a bank; it does not custody surplus cash.
  • Closing clearly is how friend groups, offices, clubs, and societies keep trust for the next event.
